EP Review: The Forrius “Power of Rebirth”

There’s something immediately gripping about Power of Rebirth, the latest EP from The Forrius, written and composed by Valentin Sepliarsky. Built around themes of resilience, inner struggle, and renewal, this five-track, 20-minute release wastes no time making an impact—and leaves you wanting more by the time it’s over.

From the opening moments of the title track, “Power of Rebirth,” the band sets the tone with a punchy, dynamic energy. The main riff hits hard, evolving through subtle variations that keep the momentum alive, while the polished production allows every layer to breathe. It’s a track that perfectly captures the EP’s essence: emotional yet powerful, introspective yet explosive. The balance between cinematic atmosphere and modern rock drive is particularly well handled here.

Across the EP, The Forrius demonstrate a strong sense of control over their sound. The riffing is consistently excellent—tight, memorable, and never overindulgent—while the production remains sleek and accessible without sacrificing depth. Vocally, the performance sits exactly where it should: expressive without excess, serving the songs rather than overpowering them.

A standout moment comes with “Loco for the Night,” arguably the EP’s most infectious track. Its driving rhythm, combined with a melodic main riff and layered backing vocals, creates an almost triumphant atmosphere. It feels like a victory anthem—uplifting, energizing, and deeply satisfying.

What makes Power of Rebirth particularly effective is its pacing. The EP flies by, not because it lacks substance, but because it maintains a consistent level of engagement throughout. Initially, it might feel like the beginning of a full-length album—but realizing it’s “only” an EP actually works in its favor, leaving a strong sense of anticipation.

If anything, that’s the only real frustration here: it ends too soon. The Forrius have clearly laid a solid foundation—now it’s time to build on it. A full-length album can’t come soon enough.
