Tårfödd’s Efterlämnade I Sorg dives deep into themes of grief, sorrow, and emotional catharsis. In this interview, Simon Lindgren shares the inspirations, struggles, and raw honesty behind his one-man project.
1.
Efterlämnade I Sorg translates to Left in Grief. What does this title
personally mean to you, and how does it reflect the emotions behind the album?
I got inspired by the loss of someone close too me.
2. Your music often explores themes of death, depression, and separation.
How do you transform such heavy emotions into something that listeners can
connect with musically?
Good question, i guess everyone goes true these feelings and events at some
point in life and can relate...
3. The track Tomhet was inspired by the passing of a friend’s father. Could
you tell us more about the creative process behind this song and how you
captured that sense of emptiness?
I always make more or less "sad music" for some reason, it comes
naturally too me and i find beauty in darkness and sorrow in music.
4. You record everything yourself at home. What challenges and freedoms come with being a one-man project?
I have tried working with others but honestly i always want things a sertain
way and if i do it myself there is no conflict, i get the song how i want it ;)
5. You’ve only been growling and singing for a few years, yet your music
already carries a strong emotional weight. How did you develop your vocal
style, and what influences shaped it?
I have no idea, i just started "screaming" hehe :) and i have
pollished my vocal technic alot over the past year or two....but i still
wouldnt say im good at it but it sounds unique atleast xD
6. What do you feel has improved the most in your songwriting and recording
process compared to your earlier releases?
For sure my vocals and maybe also mixing/mastering has improved.
7. Even though you don’t currently perform live, do you have a vision of what a Tårfödd concert would look and feel like if you could bring it to the stage?
I would love too one day have live musicians and perform, but no i havent come that far in as how it could be....
8. Many describe your music as both deeply sorrowful and filled with anger. How do you balance these two extremes without losing the emotional core of your songs?
These feelings are usually both present in grief/sorrow/depression etc in life, so naturally in music aswell.
9. Sweden has a rich history of metal music. Do you feel connected to that tradition, or do you see Tårfödd as carving its own path outside of it?
Ofc im a part of it but i like too se myself as somewhat unique and with my own style and sound.
And i dont feel that im that inspired by other bands too be honest, or i dont try too sound like anyone else, but ofc you always are abit influenced by other bands you hear and grow up with....
10. Listeners have said, “this guy only gets better and better with each release.” How do you personally measure your growth as an artist?
Yes i have grown alot the past year, before 2023 i had almost np experiance in making this style of music, i had never growled before for example.....and if you listen too Mörker compared to Efterlämnade i sorg you can hear a big difference in production and vocals i think.
11. You mentioned that writing a song can take just a couple of days, while mixing takes much longer. Do you enjoy the fast creative burst more, or the patient refining stage?
I like writing and recording the songs the most.....the rest, mixing etc is alot longer process and not as fun, after listening too a song for like 2 weeks straight almost 24/7 and going back too make changes and improvements, correcting mistakes etc etc....well thats not as fun xD
12. Finally, what do you hope people carry with them after listening to Efterlämnade I Sorg?
I hope they get a good musical experiance and hopefully i can "help" someone dealing with grief and depression etc....i think music is the best medicine alot of times in life! And also music can be a relief of anger and other built-up emotions......
