Italian thrashers Adeptor erupt from the underground with raw energy and unflinching purpose. In this interview, they dive into rage, resistance, and the unrelenting power of uncompromising metal.
Adeptor was born on one of those nights where the urge to play and let off steam was stronger than anything else. In the beginning, it was an outlet, we wanted to create uncompromising thrash, raw and honest, to spit out the rage we carried inside. The name is both a play and a statement: adapting doesn’t mean surrendering, it means facing adversity head-on.
2. Your new track “Chains of Shadows” delivers a strong message about
digital surveillance and dehumanization. What inspired the theme of this song,
and how do you relate to it personally?
We live in a distorted reality where control isn’t imposed by force anymore,
but welcomed voluntarily. "Chains of Shadows" is about that: the
invisible prison we build ourselves while being pushed to give up what makes us
human. It’s rooted in personal experiences, but also in a generational unease
we all feel.
3. Musically, “Chains of Shadows” balances aggression with atmospheric
touches and technical complexity. How do you approach writing lyrics to match
that balance between anger and melody?
I try not to write just “against” things, but “through” them. The anger is
real, but yelling alone isn't enough. Every word must carry weight, a sense, an
image, a doubt. The melodic parts give space and depth, It's like a metaphor to
the constant distraction that's teasing you.
We’re not machines of war, we’re pissed off people, but still human.
4. The video for “Chains of Shadows” visually amplifies the dystopian theme
of the song. What was the creative process behind its concept and production?
The concept was born from the same mindset that shaped the song. We wanted to
visually capture the feeling of being watched, manipulated, lost in a world
that gives you everything but what really matters. The budget was tight, but
the vision was clear. It’s a DIY work, with our heads outside the system.
5. Your sound clearly pays homage to thrash legends from the ‘80s and ‘90s
like Slayer, Testament, and Sepultura. What continues to influence you the most
from that era?
The raw honesty of their rage and the bold personality in their sound. Those
bands had a strong identity and sounded like no one else. We’re not trying to
copy them
6. How would you describe the Italian thrash metal scene right now? Are
there any bands or venues that you think help keep the flame alive?
There’s passion and a lot of great bands, but it’s fragmented. There's no real
network, no consistent venues, no real support. Those who keep going do it out
of attitude, not profit. And that, for better or worse, keeps the scene raw and
real. Bands we respect include Game Over, Vexovoid, Svlfur, Hateseed, Lilith
Legacy.
7. You’ve partnered with Sliptrick Records for this release. How has that
collaboration helped shape or elevate this new chapter for Adeptor?
Sliptrick gave us trust and freedom which is the most important thing for a
band like ours. They didn’t ask us to water anything down. That allowed us to
focus entirely on the music, the message, and what really matters.
8. What lyrical themes are you exploring in your upcoming material? Is there
a core emotion or message that ties your songs together?
Generational injustice, alienation, war, exploitation, inequality, the
loneliness of those who don’t conform, social pressure, rage against coward
leaders who manipulate the masses. And in our latest material, Forces Of
Annihilation also the senseless wars and genocides the world is tolerating.
Everything is tied together by a common emotion: the fight towards injustince
and the will to do somenthing even if you're feeling to small, the never
surrender spirit i guess..
9. The band has a reputation for intense and energetic live shows. What can
someone expect when seeing Adeptor live for the first time?
It’s raw, direct, no bullshit. We’re not into theatrics we want each show to be
a collective release. Sweat, screams, sound, and truth. If it feels real to
you, then we’ve done our job.
10. Given the current state of the world with technology, politics, and
society evolving constantly do you feel metal, especially thrash, is more
relevant than ever?
Absolutely. Thrash was born as a reaction to a system that oppresses and
divides. Today, that system is more refined, but the essence hasn’t changed.
The anger is still there, and thrash is still one of the most honest ways to
channel it.
11. Are there plans for a full-length release in the near future? What can
fans expect in terms of music or touring?
Yes, we’re working on our full-length album. Beyond “Forces of Annihilation,”
we already have many other tracks in the works for the next record, where we’re
pushing our sound and songwriting even further. We want to raise the bar while
keeping our identity intact and bring it to the stage, including abroad.
12. Lastly, what does the name "Adeptor" mean to you today, and
how does it reflect your identity as a band?
It started out as a bit of a joke, but over time it gained meaning. An Adeptor
is someone who adapts without giving in. Someone who finds a way to resist in a
world that wants you numb. That’s exactly what we try to be on and off the
stage.
