Single Review : Necroscopy “In Your Casket”
3 minutes
and 36 seconds , fasten your seatbelts!
Necroscopy
wastes little time showing what they are about. The opening riff immediately
announces the brutality, backed by a dirty, rough production that fits the
music perfectly. A few seconds later, the drums and vocals kick in, bringing a
shrieking, old-school vocal attack that immediately takes me back to the early
’90s, when Death Metal was reaching its peak.
The drums
have that reverberated character with a dominant snare, while the riffs keep
things heavy, raw and uncompromising. Necroscopy mention Death Metal, Groove
and Hardcore influences, with a particular nod to early-2000s Deathcore, but
honestly, I don't hear much Metalcore in this track. To my ears, In Your
Casket feels much more old school and that's definitely not a bad
thing.
It sounds
dirty. It sounds old. It sounds good.
Around the 2:20 mark, the band changes direction with a slower rhythm before dropping a melodic guitar solo, then quickly returning to its familiar brutal territory.
In Your
Casket is a
promising first statement from this Linz-based outfit. If this is only the
beginning, I'm definitely curious to hear what Necroscopy will unleash next.
Well played!
