Single Review: Apeiron Bound “Thought & Memory – Reverie”
When
Lelahel Metal relaunched in the summer of 2023, I had the pleasure of
interviewing Apeiron Bound and discovering more about their debut album Multiplicity.
I also remember being impressed by their “My Sweet Stockholm” video, which was
remarkably well made for its time, long before AI-generated visuals became part
of the musical landscape. We have also covered two other Apeiron Bound singles
on Lelahel Metal, so hearing “Thought & Memory – Reverie” feels like
reconnecting with a band whose evolution I have followed with genuine interest.
This new
version immediately reveals a different side of Apeiron Bound. Compared with
their earlier material, there seems to be a stronger emphasis on melody,
cleaner and more prominent vocals, and a greater presence of those almost
intergalactic-sounding guitar solos. The progressive metal foundation remains
firmly in place, but the overall approach feels more melodic, spacious, and
cinematic.
I am not
sure whether this shift was a deliberate artistic choice, but it certainly
gives the band a noticeably different identity. Personally, I loved the
previous Apeiron Bound sound, so this change took me by surprise. That said,
the musicianship remains seriously high, with detailed arrangements and plenty
of progressive ambition. “Thought & Memory – Reverie” may sound different,
but Apeiron Bound clearly remain a band with plenty to say.
