Single Review : Reetoxa “Dancing With Lou“
There’s a
danger when reviewing an artist you’ve covered several times: people might
think you’re playing favorites. With Reetoxa, however, that’s absolutely not
the case. Jason McKee is simply one of the most active and relentlessly
creative musicians we’ve encountered, and his energy, determination and
constant flow of new music deserve to be recognized. That’s precisely why we
keep returning to Reetoxa on Lelahel Metal.
“Dancing
With Lou” is another excellent example of why. Inspired by Jason’s teenage
discovery of Lou Reed’s solo work, the song captures that magical moment when
music suddenly opens a door to an entirely new world. Rather than simply paying
tribute to Reed, McKee turns the experience into a personal coming-of-age
story.
Musically, the track is infectious from the opening seconds. Built around a lively rock ’n’ roll groove, bouncing bass, energetic drums and sharp guitar work, it manages to feel both raw and irresistibly danceable. Jason’s warm, distinctive vocals give the song an engaging personality, while the production keeps everything punchy and direct.
At just
over two minutes, “Dancing With Lou” leaves you wanting more—and that may be
its greatest strength. It’s fun, honest, energetic and packed with
genuine passion.
