Single Review: OpCritical “Doing Fine”
Earlier
this year, in March, we had the opportunity to interview OpCritical and review
their previous single, USA. What immediately stood out about the band
was not only their willingness to tackle important social and political themes,
but also the simplicity and directness of their songwriting. That same strength
shines through once again on their latest single, Doing Fine.
Blending
elements of grunge and punk, Doing Fine delivers a straightforward yet
effective message about individuality and resisting the pressures of
conformity. The song's raw energy and catchy refrain, “I won’t fit into your
box, leave me alone”, make it both memorable and relatable. Rather than relying
on complex arrangements or overproduced sounds, OpCritical keeps things
accessible, allowing the message to remain front and center.
Lyrically,
the track serves as an anthem for anyone who has felt pressured by
institutions, social expectations, or groupthink. The accompanying music video
reinforces these ideas with creative visuals that symbolize breaking free from
restrictive environments and embracing personal identity.
What makes
OpCritical appealing is their ability to transform serious subjects into
engaging, easy-to-connect-with songs. Doing Fine continues the band's
mission of raising awareness while encouraging listeners to think for
themselves. It is another solid release from a group unafraid to challenge
conformity and celebrate uniqueness.
