Album Review: Stranded By Choice “Marooned In Stone”
With Marooned
In Stone, Montana hard rock veterans Stranded By Choice deliver an album
that immediately commands attention. From the very first listen, it's obvious
that these musicians know exactly what they're doing. This is the sound of
seasoned rockers who have spent years refining their craft, and every track
benefits from that experience.
The album
opens with the thunderous “Workhorse,” setting the tone with massive riffs,
driving rhythms, and a no-nonsense approach to songwriting. Tracks like “Home
Away From Hell” and “Big Fascination” showcase the band's ability to balance
heavy grooves with memorable melodies, while “Zero Hour Ad” and “Thrown Away”
inject a welcome dose of urgency and attitude.
One of the album's strengths lies in its dynamic pacing. The atmospheric “Fog” provides a brief moment of reflection before leading into the excellent “Rumination,” a standout track that combines powerful vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and impressive guitar work. Elsewhere, “Ancient Fire” burns with classic hard rock energy, while the closing “Killer in the Night” finishes the record on a high note, delivering a hook-filled anthem packed with swagger and confidence.
The dual
guitar attack of Sean Young and Adam Rutt is consistently impressive, weaving
soaring leads and crunchy riffs throughout the album, while Stefan Flores'
drumming adds both power and finesse. Rich Feeley's commanding vocals tie
everything together perfectly.
Marooned
In Stone is heavy,
melodic, and full of character. More importantly, it sounds authentic. This is
exactly the kind of band you'd want to see live for the pure pleasure of
experiencing honest, hard-hitting rock music at its finest.
