Single Review : Cries of Redemption “This Is What It Feels Like”
We have
already reviewed one single and an album from this great band, and with “This
Is What It Feels Like” Cries of Redemption prove once again that
evolution is part of their DNA. Released on February 5th, 2026, the 4:10 track
marks a significant new chapter for the project led by Ed Silva.
Built
around the theme of long-term sobriety and the lingering “ghost” of addiction,
the song delivers a raw yet mature emotional weight. Rather than dramatizing
recovery, it explores acceptance—the idea that healing is not erasure, but
conscious forward movement. Silva’s chaotic screamo textures contrast
beautifully with the powerful and theatrical performance of Maria Duque,
whose arrival signals a bold artistic shift.
The Broadway-inspired vocal arrangement, featuring layered harmonies (including six-part harmonies within an eight-track chorus), gives the song a sweeping, almost operatic intensity. The decision to push the guitars into a more percussive, textural role while adding strings and violin allows Duque’s voice to remain front and center. The production remains as strong and polished as ever, fully serving the emotional core of the track.
“This Is
What It Feels Like” is not just another release, it feels like a redefining
moment, expanding the band’s sound while preserving its emotional authenticity.
