Emerging from Croatia’s underground, PSYCHOSIS channels raw emotion and industrial grit in their new single “Mend” — a powerful, unfiltered anthem marking a bold new chapter in their journey.
1. First
off, congratulations on "Mend"! What does this song represent for you
both personally and creatively?
Thank you! This song represents a new beginning for us. We started making other genres before this, but we always loved metal and rock. Since we do everything ourselves and we're from Croatia, it’s been a big challenge — there was no one to show us how to do certain things. This song marks the start of our real musical journey.
2. The track lives in that tension between destruction and recovery—can you
walk us through the emotional headspace behind it?
The lyrics are heavy, yes. We believe authenticity is something the listener can feel, and we always want to say what we truly feel. The times we live in are tough, and we feel that — just like most people do.
3. You’ve described “Mend” as raw and unpolished by design. Why was it
important for you to preserve that roughness?
Our process is simple: if a demo has a certain vibe, we don't change it much in the mix/master stage. Too often, we’ve seen the vibe get lost by adding too much compression or trying to polish away the rawness. So even if the song isn’t perfect in a technical sense, we feel the energy is there — and that’s what matters most.
4. There’s an industrial weight to the song that hits hard. What were some
sonic influences that shaped its sound?
NIN comes to mind almost immediately when we think of industrial music.
5. As a duo, how do you balance the creative process between lyrics,
production, and instrumentation?
We have a rule: whoever writes the song decides how it should be made. Of course, we always consider each other's opinions, but the writer leads the way.
6. Coming from the underground scene in Split, Croatia—how has your
environment influenced the music of PSYCHOSIS?
No, the local scene didn’t influence us. Music here is mostly traditional Dalmatian. We really didn’t have any musical influences around us — our influence is the life we live.
7. How did your long-standing friendship and collaboration shape the
chemistry we hear in “Mend”?
We’ve worked together for 10 years now, since we were kids. Nothing has changed over the years — we understand each other’s visions, and that kind of connection is rare.
8. Your music blends grunge, industrial, and modern metal in a very natural
way. Was that fusion intentional from the start, or something that evolved
organically?
Yes, the chaotic sound was intentional — and the future is going to be even crazier!
9. What’s your approach to vulnerability in songwriting—especially with such
heavy, personal themes?
Being real is what matters. Whatever we say in a song, we fact-check each other for any bullshit. Don’t worry — everything we sing, we live and believe.
10. Is “Mend” part of a larger body of work we can expect soon—a full EP or
album, perhaps?
No, it’s just a single for now. We’re focused on building a strong portfolio of great songs, but yes — we’re working on an album that’s going to blow your socks off.
11. The track feels tailor-made for playlists pushing the darker edge of
alt-metal. How do you see your place in today’s heavier music landscape?
Everything today feels like it doesn’t challenge the listener to feel anything. Lyrics about drugs, sex, and money were interesting for a while, but now it’s just boring. We believe people want realness — and these times are not easy. People are struggling, people are suffering. They need to hear that they’re not alone.
12. Finally, what do you hope listeners walk away with after hearing “Mend”?
Our goal is
simple: for people to feel what we feel — and to know we’re doing our best to
give them something real and worth their time.
