Single Review : Brian Hunsaker “Final Score”
Brian
Hunsaker closes the Where Dreamers Fall cycle with “Final Score,” the
fifth and final single from his upcoming EP, and arguably one of his strongest
statements yet.
The track
combines the urgency of speed metal with the epic dimensions of classic power
metal. Sharp guitars charge forward alongside Diego Palma’s cinematic
keyboards, Clif Chambliss’ bass and Mats Eriksson’s powerful drumming, creating
a sound that is both aggressive and unmistakably melodic.
Hunsaker’s
vocals are particularly impressive, moving between gritty, commanding lines and
piercing high-register screams without losing the song’s sense of melody. There
is an old-school heavy metal spirit throughout, but the production and
performances keep everything fresh and energetic.
Behind that
triumphant musical attack lies a much darker concept. “Final Score” explores
the psychological madness of war and the realization that victory can
ultimately mean nothing when its cost is absolute.
When we
interviewed Hunsaker for Lelahel Metal in January, he promised that his newer
material would be “heavier, more melodic, and more ambitious.”
With “Final
Score,” he has kept that promise.
From
recording songs during lunch breaks inside his Ford Freestyle to completing
this ambitious international collaboration, Hunsaker has transformed
determination into heavy metal.
Dio,
Bruce, Udo, Ozzy… and now, here comes Brian!
