Single Review : Garbage Garden “Fake”
We already
know Garbage Garden well, having interviewed the project last March and
previously reviewed the single “busy. being. Real.” At the time, we did not
mention that Garbage Garden is an AI-based project—a point worth addressing
now, especially with “Fake,” a track that openly confronts the complicated
relationship between artificial intelligence, creativity, and authenticity.
Musically,
“Fake” delivers a dark collision of metalcore, post-hardcore, industrial
electronics, glitch, distorted guitars, and explosive death vocals. The
production moves between cold, mechanical textures and emotionally charged
eruptions, creating a convincing tension between the artificial and the human.
Rather than using heaviness simply for impact, Garbage Garden turns it into a
vehicle for frustration, isolation, and self-expression.
What makes the project particularly interesting is Yulmi’s honesty about not presenting themselves as a traditional musician or artist. Yet perhaps that is precisely what makes Garbage Garden worth discussing: AI has become a tool through which someone who previously struggled to express themselves can finally communicate.
A few weeks
ago, a reader privately contacted us on Instagram, criticizing our reviews of
AI projects because we had not clearly identified them as such. It was fair
criticism. From now on, we will mention it openly.
Whether we
like it or not, AI-created music will increasingly become part of the musical
landscape. “Fake” may not resolve the debate, but it certainly gives it a
voice.
