Single Review : Blood of the Argonaut "A Light Went On"
From the
very first seconds, A Light Went On wastes absolutely no time. The
vocals come flying from every direction, immediately setting the tone and
making it clear that Blood of the Argonaut are here to deliver hardcore exactly
the way it should be—raw, uncompromising, and packed with old-school punk
attitude. Violent yet controlled, the track hits with crushing force while
maintaining an infectious groove that keeps the energy flowing throughout its
short runtime.
Musically,
the band successfully blends hardcore punk, metallic hardcore, and groove metal
into a relentless sonic assault. Imagine Madball jamming with Pantera while
Terror crashes the session, and you'll get a good idea of the devastating
impact this song delivers. The crushing riffs, pounding drums, and aggressive
vocal performance are balanced by well-placed rhythmic shifts that prevent the
song from becoming predictable. Guest vocalist Nicola Honey also adds another
layer of intensity, making the track even more dynamic.
The
production deserves special praise. Every instrument is clearly audible despite
the wall of aggression, allowing each riff, drum fill, and vocal line to hit
with maximum impact. It sounds exactly as heavy as it needs to without
sacrificing clarity.
The
animated music video is entertaining and fits the chaotic atmosphere, although
seeing the band perform the song live on screen would have added even more
punch and intensity.
A Light Went On is a fierce statement from Blood of the Argonaut and an exciting preview of what The Brutal Truth promises to deliver. If this single is any indication, hardcore fans have every reason to look forward to the upcoming album.
