Emerging
from New York’s thriving underground scene, Omnism blends thrash, death metal,
punk, and hardcore into a relentless sonic assault. In this interview, the band
discusses their journey, influences, and latest album, A Sleeper Awake.
1.
Omnism was formed in 2019 with the goal of bringing together multiple forms of
extreme music. What inspired the creation of the band, and how did the original
vision take shape?
we were all
a part of the local music scene in Westchester Ny . We’ve all shared the stage
with each other in separate bands, etc…it just happened naturally.
2. Your
sound combines elements of thrash metal, death metal, punk rock, and hardcore.
How do you approach blending these genres while maintaining a cohesive
identity?
We just
play what we like to play.
3.
Looking back at your debut album Forced Perspective, what do you feel were the
biggest lessons and achievements that came from that release?
Forced
perspective was recorded during Covid. With A Sleeper Awake. We were able to be
more comfortable in the studio.
4.
Omnism has shared the stage with bands such as Life Of Agony, Sick Of It All,
Subzero, Killing Time, and Go Ahead And Die. Which live experiences have had
the greatest impact on the band so far?
Every show
is a great experience…
5. Your
new release, A Sleeper Awake, arrived on June 6, 2026. What was the creative
spark behind the record, and what themes were you aiming to explore?
A lot of
pain and death and sickness happened around all of us in the early 2020’s ...
the world changed. We just put that into our songs.
6. How
does A Sleeper Awake differ from Forced Perspective in terms of songwriting,
musicianship, and overall direction?
We learned
a lot about each other over time, and I think that you can hear our growth in
the album.
7. The
title A Sleeper Awake is intriguing and thought-provoking. What does it
represent, and how does it connect to the music and lyrics on the release?
A sleeper
awake is about a man at his deathbed, finally realizing all the mistakes that
he has made in life.
8. Every
member brings different influences and strengths to the band. How does the
songwriting process typically work between Will, Danny, Joe, and Jon?
Danny and
Will are the songwriters…
A song
comes to the table and everyone puts in their ideas … Jon and Joe hold down the
pocket.
9.
Extreme music often thrives on energy and authenticity. What do you believe
sets Omnism apart from other bands operating in the modern metal and hardcore
scenes?
We stay
true to who we are. Always have a great time playing.
10. With
A Sleeper Awake now available, what are the band's plans for the rest of 2026?
Can fans expect touring, new videos, or more music in the near future?
We do have
a few shows coming up : Hardcore in the 914 fest.. etc…And there will be some
videos for tracks that are on A Sleeper Awake.
