ZVINDIYAR dives deeper into atmosphere, identity, and rebirth in this interview, exploring the evolution beyond “Anqa,” blending myth, intensity, and vision into a bold, globally minded death metal statement.
1. Your
debut album is on the horizon—what can listeners expect in terms of sound and
concept compared to “Anqa”?
The album
pushes everything further. Bigger atmosphere, heavier impact, and a more
cohesive concept. “Anqa” is just the entry point.
2. “Anqa
| عنقاء” carries strong themes of
transcendence and inner conflict. How did this concept take shape during the
writing process?
It came
from that tension between wanting to rise and being pulled back. We leaned into
that conflict and built the song around it.
3. The
idea of “rebirth” seems central to the single—does it reflect a personal
transformation within the band or more of an artistic evolution?
Both. It
reflects personal resets and also a clear artistic shift. This is where
ZVINDIYAR truly starts.
4. Your
music blends ambient textures with death metal intensity. How do you balance
atmosphere and aggression in your compositions?
Ambience
builds tension and melody; it brings out the beauty. The heaviness is the
release, and there’s a different kind of beauty in that destruction.
5. You
draw from Persian and Arabic mythology—what inspired you to explore these
themes, and how do they influence your storytelling?
It comes
from our roots. Bringing that into the music gives it weight and meaning, it
becomes more than just sound.
6. ZVINDIYAR
places a strong emphasis on visual identity. How important is the visual aspect
in shaping the full experience of your music?
The visual
side completes the experience; it’s part of the music.
7. Can
you walk us through the creative process behind “Anqa,” from initial idea to
final production?
It started
from the core melody and emotion, then everything was layered around it...
lyrics, atmosphere, and dynamics... until it was complete.
8. With
members experienced in live performances internationally, how does that
background influence your studio work?
It keeps
things intentional. We think in terms of impact, not just parts. What actually
hits when people experience it through proper delivery.
9. How
does the upcoming album expand on the sonic and thematic direction introduced
in your first single?
It expands
in scale and depth. More refined, more immersive, and more defined as a full
body of work.
10. As a
death metal project from Bahrain, how would you describe the local metal scene,
and has it influenced your sound?
The scene
is small but real. It pushes you in many ways and we wouldn't be who we
are without it.
11. Do
you feel there are unique challenges or advantages to creating extreme music in
your region?
Challenges
exist, but they force creativity and independence.... which works in our favor.
12. What
are your goals for ZVINDIYAR moving forward, both artistically and in terms of
reaching a global audience?
To build a
strong identity, release consistently, and reach a global audience while
staying true to what ZVINDIYAR is.
