Blending
cinematic atmosphere, mysticism, and powerful heavy metal energy, The
Whispering emerges as one of the most intriguing new bands on the scene. We
spoke with the band about their debut EP, influences, and immersive artistic
vision.
1. The
debut EP “THE WHISPERING – PART 1” introduces a very vivid and almost cinematic
metal universe—was there a clear concept or storyline in mind when you began
writing these songs?
Greetings, this is
Lucian, looking forward to speaking with you.
When I listen to the full album, the songs unveil themselves as spells or
incantations.
Each one represents a window into our lives and the rituals we offer. The
whispering is the truth, hiding in plain sight, the knowing answer in your
heart that awaits your recognition.
Sometimes it takes an alchemy of natural and supernatural influence to inspire.
2. The self-titled track opens with that cryptic “whispering” intro—what
exactly are we hearing there, and how does it set the tone for the full album?
The intro of the album features three sister witches casting each title of the
album into the void. An offering to all whose ears fall upon it. An invitation
to listen closer, close your eyes, and gaze into the unknown … wild-eyed and
ready to ride!
3. Your sound blends classic heavy metal with alternative elements. How
intentional was this fusion, and what bands or influences helped shape that
direction?
Speaking for myself, the danger and excitement I felt as a youth listening to
heavy metal was my first taste of freedom.
Bands like Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden with monstrous guitar riffs and mighty
drums still guide me triumphantly into the fire
The whispering is a return to that unpredictable and dangerous approach to
music. Creating an atmospheric soundscape to accompany each wicked tale surely
came from moments of mysticism on a Led Zeppelin interlude or being in the
captive trance of a Darkthrone album.
We wanted to create an immersive, visual, and sonic experience, transporting
the listeners' imaginations to run free in the wild
4. LUCIAN, your background includes performing with Cirque du Soleil. How
has that experience influenced THE WHISPERING’s approach to live shows and
theatrical elements?
The circus world is a brilliant storm of death-defying heroism and delicate
moments of emotional defeat. Night after night, the theatre was painted with
performers throwing shapes in the shadows and screaming in the spotlight,
dancing on the edge of disaster.
As a fire performer, I found myself wildly alive on stage as if I had
discovered a secret power. Stay in the moment and free the mind, become the
moment. It’s a feeling of freedom I wish to personally feel and convey through
the music of The Whispering
5. The lyrics seem to carry strong themes of rebellion and confronting
societal issues. What messages are you most driven to communicate through this
project?
religious dogma that continues to strip women of their rights and bodily
autonomy, our collective blind eye turned to the suffering of animals and the
environmental pollution of factory farming. These are urgent issues I cannot
ignore.
I have no expectation for people to make better decisions, but I do believe in
a heart that knows the truth.
Perhaps a reflection whispered wildly will break the spell.
6. With such an experienced lineup—featuring members connected to bands like
Dissection and Soilwork—how did the chemistry come together during the
recording process?
Firstly, I am honored to be creating music with this cast of metal legends.” as
we began the recording process for the whispering album we quickly became
friends and shared common influences. As a composer of the music, it was a
thrill to release control without guidelines or rules and celebrate in the
mastery of these musicians. The mighty Viking command, Tobias plays the drums
with instantly gives me the feeling of battle. The chemistry between Luis and
Dirk was shaped over 20 years of being bandmates. They are both telepathic
musicians. I’m thrilled to be making music with each for mentioned member.
7. Dirk, you stepped in to record drums when Tobias wasn’t available—how did you approach joining an already evolving project, and what did you aim to bring to the album?
Dirk is a drumming servant. His technique and flow are effortless. I introduced him to the songs with a demo of just vocal and guitar. He returned the recordings like they were written precisely for him. He played as if he was in my mind and the music came alive !!
Along with being a world-class musician, Dirk is an excellent human being who cares about the planet and those who rock up upon it🤘🏼!
8. The album was recorded at Besco Recording Studios and mastered by Randy
Merrill. How did that production environment shape the final sound of the
record?
The Whispering is an international band. Coming from different corners of the
globe living and working together in a château on the French countryside was a
perfect opportunity for us to meld together. It was a thrilling experience and
is clearly translated on the record. I would often walk in the mornings as a
heavy fog layover the rolling fields of grain. It was a ghostly way to start
each session. Dan McConomy., Momo and Randy are a well experienced and talented
crew. We felt in good hands!
9. Tracks like “Life After God” and “Pretty Witches” suggest contrasting
themes—can you talk about the emotional or philosophical range across the
album?
The whispering is a band of witches. We ritual in different ways all with the
same intention to conjure music that offers something sacred to the listener”
“contradictions and word play can blur the lines offering a new perspective”
tho in the songs for mentioned, I speak quite literally of the celebration of
each and every beautiful witch and a life free of divine dictation.
10. LOIC, as both a bassist and an experienced audio engineer, how did your
technical background influence the recording and sonic precision of the EP?
Loic is the dark angel of the group. He is still and silent, mighty and
thunderous. A well accomplished bassist, bandmate, engineer, friend, father and
funny as hell only begin to describe Loic.
His presence in the studio made us instantly feel at home in the moment he
picked up his bass the band was born.
11. You’ve announced a full-length album coming in fall 2026—how will it
expand on what we hear in PART 1? Should fans expect a continuation or a
transformation?
it was a challenge, separating the EP from the full-length album as it was
created and composed as a single vision. The immersive experience takes place
as the rest of the material unveils. There are heavier, darker, and more self-illuminating
moments to still be heard as well as atmospheric interludes to drunken the
spell. “ “ we are all very proud of the record and can’t wait to perform it
live as a band.
12. Finally, THE WHISPERING seems designed as both a musical and immersive
experience—what can fans expect when they see you live for the first time?
spells casting and sonic splendor “ a wicked and wild ride through the forest at night, with a twist of devilish delight “.
