Critical Pint returns with “Redemption,” a powerful and introspective new single marking a fresh chapter, blending refined songwriting, emotional depth, and renewed creative energy after years of intense live performances.
1. After
almost three years dedicated to live shows, you’re back with “Redemption. ”What
triggered the need to return to the studio and open this new chapter?
These three
years of live shows definitely gave us new desires for what comes next. We wanted
to explore a different approach for our upcoming compositions.
Victor
joining as a second guitarist was also a major creative driver, with the
natural desire to leave his mark on the band’s official tracks.
2. “Redemption”
is your first single since Victor joined the band. How has his arrival influenced
your writing process and overall sound?
Victor
integrated really well into our writing process. He brings new ideas and
proposals that add a fresh flavor to our Loud Rock. But we didn’t change our
method… actually, it’s more the message that has evolved.
3. You
describe this track as the result of a process without rushing. How did this slower,
more thoughtful approach change the way you work compared to your previous
releases?
After the
experience of our first album, we wanted to keep improving the production
quality of our future releases. No secret: we simply took more time to write
these songs because we felt they deserved it. The themes we explore are more
sincere, more intimate, more delicate… and therefore more demanding.
4. Your
loud rock DNA is still present, but there’s clearly a more mature and nuanced side
in this new single. How would you define this evolution in Critical Pint’s
sound?
Taking more
time to write also allowed us to rethink the overall direction of our sound and
artistic vision. This whole process helped us evolve, reflect, and reposition
ourselves on what we wanted to create for Critical Pint. With “Redemption,” we
consider that we’re embracing a more sincere and sensitive approach.
5. You
mention a particularly refined rhythmic approach, especially on drums. Can you tell
us more about the artistic and technical choices behind this track?
“Redemption”
is quite a demanding track for the whole band. Not because it’s difficult to
play, but because it’s full of details with very strong dynamics. We had to
build around a powerful riff, but with a more epic chorus and softer verses
highlighted by bass arpeggios… all while keeping the flow of the track intact.
6. “Redemption”
seems to be one of your most personal songs to date. Was embracing this level
of introspection difficult, or rather liberating and cathartic?
That’s
definitely true. There’s naturally a sense of modesty involved, which requires
a bit of letting go. But in the end, when the message is more personal, it also
becomes more sincere.
7. The
theme of guilt — making necessary life choices that may hurt others — lies at
the core of the song. Is it rooted in personal experience, a collective
reflection from the band, or something more universal?
Everyone
faces guilt at some point in life, and what band doesn’t touch on universal
themes? In our case, the approach is slightly different this time, as it’s a
collective creation based on one member’s personal story.
8. After
three years of strengthening your live performance and playing numerous shows,
how has that stage energy influenced the writing and production of “Redemption”?
We really
loved playing all those shows and meeting people. It created a strong dynamic around
the band, and of course, it makes us want to go further. So as mentioned
earlier, we also put a lot of care into this track because we want our songs to
live up to expectations, both for listening and for performing on new stages.
9. 2026
is shaping up to be a busy year with new singles and live dates. Should fans expect
an EP, a full album, or a series of independent releases?
For now,
we’re sticking to consecutive single releases. We’re in a phase where a lot is happening
and we’re working on several projects at once, which we hope will help us reach
new people and grow our fanbase.
10. If
you had to describe “Redemption” in one sentence to someone discovering it on January
23, what would you say?
“Redemption”
tells the story of that moment when you can finally turn the page, when moving forward
becomes possible again.
