ADxHD explode onto the scene with chaotic precision and cross-border unity. Their first single Non Concentrated Mind introduces raw brutality, complex structures, and a fearless rejection of genre limits.
1. ADxHD
is a unique mix of Polish and Belarusian roots. How did this cross-border
collaboration shape the band’s identity and sound?
We do not
believe that there are any significant differences between the music of
neighboring countries. Contemporary music, like its diversity, is formed from
various mixtures of different genres. And the sound is already the result of a
collective choice, made by mutual consensus.
2. Your
first single is titled “Non Concentrated Mind.” What inspired this theme and
how personal is the message behind it?
The idea
for this topic came instantly, even at the stage of forming the concept for the
whole band. Most likely, when ADHD is mentioned, one of the first associations
that comes to mind for most people is inattention, hyperactivity, and
impulsiveness. The same thing happened to us, since this is our first work, so
we will start presenting it from the very basics.
3. The
track brings a very raw and chaotic energy. Was this intentional to reflect the
concept of a restless, unfocused mind?
Did you
notice the rawness in the composition? Maybe this effect was achieved
unintentionally, but it is definitely one of the elements used to immerse the
listener in an atmosphere that is “uncomfortable” for them. Chaos - yes, that's
definitely our method. Repeated transitions throughout our music tracks will
continue to be present in the future. This makes the music more complex and
diverse, and fits the band's name.
4.As a
new brutal hardcore/deathcore band, what elements were essential for you to
include in this first single to introduce ADxHD properly to the world?
Brutal
Hardcore/Deathcore is more about tags, to somehow remotely relate ourselves to
a genre, let's say that these are just conventions, maybe even some will hear
something of their own here, and as in most similar discussions, everything is
relative, because life is not black and white, we prefer not to limit ourselves
to dichotomous thinking. The single is not a complete reflection of everything
that will appear in our music. We will
try to make diverse material, perhaps even create a new subgenre in heavy
music. It's difficult to talk about this, because we are still in the process
of creating material and considering various elements that may suddenly show up
in our music.
5.How
was the songwriting process for this track? Do you write in a structured way,
or embrace the chaos naturally like your band name suggests?
This song,
one of the first we came up with, stood out as a kind of action track. It was
the first and contains all the basic elements of similar genres, with a
teeth-grinding intro and a measured beginning, transitions and a slowdown at
the end in the spirit of traditional deathcore/slamming brutal death bands.
It's natural to accept chaos, hmm. Chaos is actually clearly structured; you
just need to be able to see the patterns. Albert Einstein's quote immediately
comes to mind: “Only a fool needs order, genius reigns over chaos” (c). Don't
you find this statement a bit sarcastic? However, our chaos has a clear
structure, every detail matters, no note is there by accident.
6. Who
are the bands or artists that influenced you the most while creating “Non
Concentrated Mind”? Any from the Eastern European hardcore scene?
There is no
clear answer to this question. We didn't look at specific artists to draw on
their music, because it's so easy to start using the same elements without even
realizing you're doing it. We are all closely familiar with extreme music (with
representatives of different scenes), and I am sure that some features have
been unconsciously borrowed from somewhere, because everything has already been
played one way or another.
7. The
single is just the first chapter. What can you already tell us about the
emotional or sonic direction of your upcoming debut album?
First, we
will finish working on the EP, where the final sound will be set. As for the
emotional direction, there will be several directions here, we’re not going to
limit ourselves to one ADHD, there are all the prerequisites to move in a
psycho-emotional direction, the metal scene welcomes this, it's about life,
it's all around us, although in the rush of chaos we simply don't see it or
don't want to see it.
8. Poland
has a strong metal and hardcore underground. How has the local scene reacted to
ADxHD so far?
We don't
know that, just like the Polish metal and hardcore scene, haha.
9. What
challenges did you face producing your first single, and what lessons will you
take into the album production?
Very good
question. The most difficult question was to decide on the genre. Our band
members like different music, so there were ideas to play fun dance grindcore
and even mix folk and ethno with groovy metal. But we're not saying a definite
NO to those ideas, so we might suddenly release something like that in the
future. Probably the biggest lesson is to focus on the quality of the content,
the sound, i.e., to pay attention to the arrangement first and foremost. We
need to create uniqueness as much as possible, although we know how hard it is
to stand out among the hundreds of bands that appear every day.
10. If
listeners walk away remembering only one thing about ADxHD after hearing “Non
Concentrated Mind,” what do you want that to be?
Everyone
has its own set of associations, everyone has a different perception of music
and sounds, it is impossible for everyone to see the same picture, and that's
the beauty of it.
