Single Review – Apeiron Bound: “Astral Reflection – Rebirth”

Apeiron Bound return with “Astral Reflection – Rebirth,” a reimagined and revitalized version of a standout track from their 2022 debut Multiplicity—and once again, the Tampa-based progressive metal visionaries deliver something truly special. We’ve already had the pleasure of interviewing the band in our magazine and reviewing their previous single, but this new release confirms it: Apeiron Bound are operating on a level few bands dare to approach.

Clocking in at 8 minutes and 30 seconds, the track is an expansive, atmospheric journey through clarity, chaos, transcendence, and rebirth—exactly the yin-yang interplay the band embraces. Imagine Devin Townsend, Opeth, Cradle of Filth, Dream Theater, and Periphery fused into one entity, and you begin to understand the level of ambition and technicality at work here. The musicianship is exceptionally high, weaving complex riffs, dynamic shifts, piano layers, and rich ambient passages with surgical precision.

The production isn’t ultra-polished, but honestly, it doesn’t matter: the execution is so sharp and the arrangements so meticulous that any rough edges become irrelevant. Vocally, the performance is a powerful blend of melodic cleans worthy of classic progressive metal, intense screams, and occasional Cradle of Filth-style growls that inject a dark, theatrical edge.

The middle section softens beautifully—letting the atmosphere breathe—before the finale erupts into blistering solos and razor-edged riffs that close the journey with explosive energy.

It’s been a long time since I’ve heard progressive metal this technical, this daring, yet so well-balanced. No excess, no overindulgence—just masterful songwriting and fearless creativity.

Bravo, Apeiron Bound.
