GIANT HAZE – Cosmic Mother
German
stoner rock quartet Giant Haze released their debut full-length Cosmic
Mother on August 22, 2025 via Tonzonen Records, with
worldwide distribution by Cargo Records and publishing through Edition
Vinyl Kommune.
Based in
Kiel, the band features Christian “Andi” Andersen (bass), Peter
“Pete” Stoeckicht (guitars), Timo Ahlers (drums), and Christoph
Wollmann (vocals). Emerging from the local stoner rock and hardcore scene,
the musicians first came together for KYUSS tribute shows before developing
their own creative direction. The result is a sound rooted in the desert rock
spirit of the ’90s, combined with grunge-inspired directness and a contemporary
heaviness.
Cosmic Mother offers 12 tracks that showcase this blend with raw energy and emotional depth. From the dystopian opener “Geographic Gardens Suck” to the driving single “Panic to Ride” and the crushing weight of “1000 Tons of Stone,” the record captures both massive riff power and lyrical reflection on personal struggles, lost friends, and societal concerns.
Recorded in
late summer 2024 at the band’s own studio and mixed/mastered by Ulf Nagel,
the album embraces a purely analog ethos—drums and bass tracked live in one
day, no modeling or triggers, only carefully captured performances. The spacelike
artwork, designed by guitarist Pete, underlines the cosmic themes at the
album’s core.
Cosmic Mother is available now as a limited LP (500 copies, two editions with insert + DL-card) and CD Digipack.
