MonastR Unleashes Bleak Sonic Devastation on New EP Of Dust and Bones

French sludge/crust duo MonastR returns with Of Dust and Bones, a harrowing two-track EP clocking in at nearly 20 minutes. Pressed on a one-sided 12" vinyl with a stunning silkscreened B-side, the release blends brooding doom riffs, post-metal atmospheres, and harsh crust elements into a slow-burning, apocalyptic soundscape.

Mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege, the EP comes in two versions: classic black vinyl with white print and a bone-colored edition featuring black silkscreen. The artwork, crafted by Asat, mirrors the EP's thematic weight: ecological collapse, animal suffering, and the extinction of humanity.

Title track “Of Dust and Bones” opens with punishing riffs and despairing vocals, evoking the bleak poetry of Olaf Stapledon’s Last and First Men. “Millions” follows, beginning with eerie minimalism before erupting into crushing crescendos.

Released via a network of DIY labels including Shove Records, Counteract Recordings, Nothing to Harvest, and Insane Society, MonastR delivers a sonic reckoning for the end times. Fans of Amenra, Fall of Efrafa, and Neurosis will find familiar desolation here. Of Dust and Bones is not just music—it’s a warning whispered from the ashes of a dying world.
